Volunteering for work experience

Do you need work experience?

Volunteering is a great way of getting recent experience of a work environment, and getting references to use in applications for paid work. It is not the same as 'Work Experience', as often this is something compulsory that goes with a college course or is a Jobcentre requirement. Volunteering is never something that you have to do.
We do not arrange traditional work placements (eg 2 or 3 week placements with employers). The majority of volunteering placements on our books will be for upwards of 3 months. We are happy to work with students seeking medium to long-term volunteering roles that will complement their studies.

After you volunteer somewhere you will pick up skills that you may want to use when applying for paid work, and many organisations will be happy to give you a reference to use after about three months of volunteering. Each organisation and volunteering role is different, so check with the organisation before you start is this is important for you.

How much time can I give?
What do I get?
Who can volunteer?
What can I do?
I am ready to get involved!
