Our training is designed to be interactive so volunteer managers get the chance to try out new ways of working. Evelyn Rodrigues, our Training & Best Practice Manager, is a Certified Trainer, having completed the Learning & Performance Institute’s Trainer Performance Monitoring & Assessment (TPMA). This certification demonstrates Evelyn’s skills in delivering effective learning in line with a cross-industry recognised framework.

Your Volunteer Policy – Is it fit for purpose? - training for Volunteer Managers

Thursday 26 May 2022, 2pm–4.30pm, on Zoom

When was your Volunteer Policy last reviewed? Are you confident that it is legally compliant and reflects good practice for your volunteer programme? Many organisations made changes to their volunteer management systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. Are these reflected in your Volunteer Policy? Or maybe you don’t yet have a Volunteer Policy?

A robust Volunteer Policy is the minimum element of good practice if your organisation involves volunteers. This practical workshop will cover:
• essential components of a Volunteer Policy
• legal requirements
• how to include key elements of best practice in managing volunteers
• COVID-19 adjustments
• key supplementary policies (such as Problem Solving for Volunteers)
• making your policy accessible to different audiences (volunteers, staff, senior managers)
• encouraging staff and volunteers to implement the Volunteer Policy.
By the end of the session, you will be confident in developing/updating your Volunteer Policy. After the training, VCTH can also provide detailed feedback on your current (or draft) Volunteer Policy.

This session is suitable for experienced Volunteer Managers as well as those who are new to managing volunteers.

Venue: Zoom (the meeting link will be sent to you when your place is confirmed)

Cost: Our training programme is kindly subsidised by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH). The session is FREE to voluntary sector organisations with a base/office in Tower Hamlets, or that have services specifically aimed at Tower Hamlets residents. However, we charge a £50 fee for late cancellations and no-shows to ensure that limited places are not wasted. For organisations without a base or services in Tower Hamlets, the session costs £50 per person. The fee is non-refundable, unless you give 48 hours’ notice of cancellation.
