FREE* Peer Learning Workshop: Streamlining Volunteer Recruitment and Improving Retention

Wednesday 24 June 2026, 10.30am - 12.30pm, on Zoom

How can your organisation make it easier for volunteers to apply, stay engaged and continue beyond their initial commitment?

In this practical peer learning session, Muhib Miah, Volunteer Coordinator at Literacy Pirates, will share the organisation’s journey to improving volunteer recruitment and retention. We will hear how Literacy Pirates streamlined processes and reduced barriers in the volunteer journey, used data to inform decision-making, strengthened communication and recognition, and continually adapted and improved the volunteer experience over time.

Muhib will share practical learning, successes and ongoing challenges from this work, followed by group discussions giving participants the opportunity to exchange ideas with other local volunteer managers and reflect on their own organisation’s volunteer management practices.

Managing Volunteers - Resources

VCTH produces factsheets on managing, recruiting and retaining volunteers so you're always up-to-date with best practice in volunteer management. We also cover topical issues. For instance, we have factsheets on safeguarding during the pandemic or on which roles require a DBS check. Access our factsheets on managing volunteers.
